Another Thank You Card

Today my card is a thank you card for my brother and his wife.  Very simple yet nice.
I also entered this card in a challenge at Stampin Pretty with Mary Fisher, challenge #PPA185.  I used a ready made kraft colored card, rounded the edges, rounded the edges of my patterned paper, then used solid paper in green and white to make my strip. I stamped my sentiment on a piece of the patterned paper and cut it out using the apothecary die cut. I then cut out one just larger in black for a backing.

Jar full of Thanks

Todays post is a thank you card I made for my sister.  I used the Sizzix Jar die cut to cut a jar out of vellum paper, then inked the edges with black ink to give it definition.  I printed out the words Thank You in different fonts, stamped hearts all over, then cut them into strips that I placed under the vellum on my card.  I used pale green ink to stamp faux stitching around the base of the card and inked the edges with the same green ink.  For the inside I cut a piece of the same patterned paper that I used for the lid, layered it with a piece of white paper to write my message on, then rounded the corners of both papers.  My sister loved it!

I also entered this card in two challenges:

Santa Treat Boxes

I made a couple of treat boxes to take to my sister's for her two little grand daughters.  I can't take credit for the design as a lovey lady, Susan Itell, over at Simple Stampin created the originals that gave me the idea for mine. She used a heart shaped petal die cut for her boxes and I used a pie box die cut from Penny Duncan Creations so they are a different, but still cute.  I will put a some candy in them and hang them on my sister's tree for the girls to find.  I know they will love them.

A Gift for me and my Thank You Card

My sister sent me a hand embroidered dish towel and two quilted pot holders that she made for me.  She is always telling me that she doesn't think she has creative talent, and I keep telling her that she does.  It may not be a talent for card making, but she certainly has talent when it comes to quilting or hand embroidery.  So here is a look at my gift and then a picture of my thank you card to her.  I know she looks at my blog all the time so she won't be surprised when she gets her card!  Thank you Sis. I love the little snowman and you know I needed the pot holders. :-))

I'm also putting my Thank You card in a challenge over at Mojo Monday.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

Sister's Birthday Card

My card for today is a birthday card I made for my sister.  I used my Pazzels to cut the lacey square frame and used a peel and stick flower that I added glitter to and then made a butterfly using the Stampin' Up butterfly punches (large and small).  The body of the butterfly is a red tear drop crystal for a little more bling.  I added faux stitching around the inside of the frame and I think it came out very pretty.  I hope she likes the card.

Christmas Cards for my Grandchildren

Today I am sharing my latest project, which is Christmas Cards that acts as an ornament holder and a gift card holder.  The pictures are of my youngest granddaughters and my great-grandson.  The picture ornaments pull off the cards to reveal a secret message underneath and then the ornaments can be hung on the tree.  When the card is opened there is a pocket  to hold a gift card.

I words I love you are stamped on a band so the tab on the back of the ornament can slide under it  to hold the ornament in place on the front of the card.

On the white label on the back of the ornament I can write the name of my grandchild and the year.
I plan to make this an annual event so that my grandchildren can see how they have changed throughout the years.

I am a guest card maker and blogger on Stampin' Pretty

Today my blog is being featured on Stampin' Pretty with Mary Fish.  In honor of this, I made a card  using a gate fold lacey electronic die cut from Monica's. Monica designs very pretty and intricate cuts and the best part - they are free!  I backed the die cut with a tan shimmer cardstock and rounded the inside corners. I made a vellum belly band wrapped in ribbon and topped with a lavender metal flower and some die cut leaves.  The inside of the card has a layered die cut in lavender and white, edged with antique photo distress ink.  I like how pretty and delicate this card looks, and it would be perfect for an anniversary, birthday, or even a "just to say hello" card!  It would even make a great Valentines Day card because of all the little heart cutouts!

Mojo Monday 323
www.mojoMonday.blogspot.com

My card today is for a Mojo Monday card Challenge.  I embossed the right side with a butterfly embossing folder, then used a pretty printed paper on the left. I used a die cut for the circles and then a Stampin' Up punch for the butterfly.  I used two butterflies to give a dimensional effect, and then put on a couple of rhinestones for a little bling.

PPA182 - Color Challenge
http://www.palspaperarts.com/2013/12/ppa182-a-color-challenge.html
PPA182
My card for this Stamp in Up challenge uses the colors eggplant, smoky slate, and vanilla.  I used my electronic die cutter to cut the eggplant into a lacey square background from Birds Cards, then printed out my picture on the vanilla and backed it up with a scalloped circle from the blue.  I then printed out the sentiment on the vanilla.  For the inside of the card I layered squares of the eggplant, blue and vanilla.

Record Book for my Cards

I am currently working on a book to hold my cards as I make them, and pictures of cards I mail out.  It's made from file folders, paper bags, and envelopes, and the cover is made from chipboard.  It's called a Lapbook 2 and was designed by Kathy Orta at www.paperphenomenon.com. I wanted to use kraft colored file folders, but didn't find any until after I started my book!  I did find some red and white floral folders so I used those.  It worked out because it inspired the look of the cover.  I wanted to use string tied envelopes and couldn't find those either so I made my own.  It has a magnetic closure under the wood frame, and a hidden hinge system for attaching the folders, envelopes and bags inside.  It's a work in progress however, and I will be adding more pockets and storage areas inside as I go.  I will be able to keep stamps, address labels and any other little items needed for my cards.  I'll post more pictures as I get more done on the inside.

I also entered this project in a challenge at www.Florishes.org for a faux stitching challenge.

Jewelry Box

I have finished a project that I have been working on for some time.  It's a jewelry box made from match box style boxes.  I saw one like it on the internet a long time ago and wanted to try and make one for myself.  The original used the little boxes, but I wanted mine bigger. The kitchen match boxes were to big, so I made my own template for the size I wanted.  I used Graphic 45 paper and used small beads for the little drawer pulls.  I added small wood knobs for the legs and a metal handle on the top. The frame is made from foam core board. I really like how it turned out!
